"Dock" Connector iPhone 5 Made Smaller

Rumors of iPhone 5 form
iPhone 5, next-generation smartphones from Apple, will be present with a dock connector hole smaller. From 30-pin dock size, will be designed as 19-pin.

According to two reliable sources close to Apple, this is done "to make room for earphone hole can be moved to the bottom," such as reported by Reuters on Monday (7/23/2012).

In the previous generation iPhone, Apple put the 3.5 mm audio jack on the top of the smartphone. While the bottom is full with dock, speaker and microphone.

"This is an opportunity for accessories manufacturers," said analyst Pete Cunningham of Canalys, a technology research firm. "The iPhone has become the standard connector for a long time. And now I hope the same thing will happen to the new connector, Apple should change as expected."

Apple has not given an official statement about this issue. Logitech, a Swiss company that makes speakers for Apple products, also declined to comment.

An employee at the Hong Kong company which specialized in producing speakers for Apple products, said sales of speakers with 30-pin dock has declined in one or two years. "They focus on making bluetooth speaker, and it proved the right decision," said the employee who refused to be named.

He also predicted that sales of iPod speakers will come down, while sales of bluetooth speakers will go up.

IDC analyst Franciso Jeronimo opinion, Apple should find a solution to the problem of differences in the new iPhone dock and the older generation Apple mobile devices. "Apple needs to find a solution so as not to disappoint customers who want new iPhone, but they already have the accessories are expensive," said Jeronimo.

"I believe Apple will provide some kind of adapter solutions, so the new iPhone can be used with the old connector."

Some people think that changing the size of the dock connector would be detrimental to Apple mobile device users, who have paid dearly various accessories. However, Apple is known to have a loyal customer.

"I do not think this will make consumers stop buying Apple's new gadget," said CK Lu, an Gartner analyst from Taipei. According to him, there are many accessory manufacturers who are interested in making accessories for Apple, because Apple users are more open and willing to buy accessories.
